When travelers envision a wine-centric getaway, the Napa Valley region comes to mind for obvious reasons: the food, wine and scenery are incredible. But Washington State should not be dismissed. It ranks second in the USA in wine grape production, just behind California, and embodies the same qualities that make for a terrific wine vacation. Thanks to 300 sunny days a year with nearly 16 hours of sun during the summer solstice, a dry growing season and superior water sources, wines from this Pacific Northwest region have the potential to be some of the most drinkable — both in red and white varieties.
