The Short Answer: 15 Glasses
Coravin recommends that you can typically expect to pour 15 five-ounce glasses of wine using one Coravin Capsule with the Coravin Timeless wine by-the-glass system. This estimate assumes an optimal pouring technique – but there are variables that can affect this number.
Five-ounce pour: The standard single serving of wine, roughly 150ml. This is the measure most restaurants use and the basis for Coravin's capsule estimates.
The Variables: Technique Matters
How efficiently you use your Coravin directly affects how many glasses you get from each capsule. Short, controlled presses of the trigger use less Pure Argon gas per pour, giving you more glasses from a single capsule. Longer, continuous presses use more gas and the capsule runs out sooner.

The Demonstration: Up to 23 Glasses
In his demonstration, Greg – Coravin's founder – carefully measured each pour using his optimal technique. Using this approach, he was able to pour 23 glasses from a single Coravin Capsule, with enough gas remaining for at least one more. With careful technique, you can realistically expect anywhere from 23 to 25 glasses per capsule.
Coravin Sparkling CO2 Capsules
If you use the Coravin Sparkling® wine by-the-glass system, the capsule works differently. Rather than Pure Argon gas, the Coravin Sparkling uses CO2 capsules to maintain the pressure inside sparkling wine bottles – keeping bubbles intact for at least four weeks after your first pour.
CO2 Capsule: Used exclusively with the Coravin Sparkling® wine by-the-glass system. CO2 replaces the pressure lost when pouring sparkling wine, keeping the remaining wine fresh and fizzy for at least four weeks.
Important: Capsules Are Not Interchangeable
Pure Argon gas capsules are for Coravin Timeless wine by-the-glass systems only. CO2 capsules are for the Coravin Sparkling® wine by-the-glass system only. Always use the correct capsule for your system.
